Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the
Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the Eucharist prior to his
arrest and crucifixion. Jesus celebrated the Last Supper as a Passover feast.
Jesus would fulfill His role as the Christian victim of the Passover for all to
be saved by His final sacrifice. The
Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem.
During the meal, Jesus predicts his betrayal.
As Jesus washed the feet of His disciples we too are called to serve one
another in the same way. The Ursuline
motto of Serviam -- I will serve -- is lived out in this reality -- that we are always willing to
serve. Let us always follow Jesus’ model
of love and service for all as we celebrate the great Thanksgiving -- the
Eucharist.
