Today
is the feast of St. Vincent de Paul.
Vincent was the son of French peasants who was sold into slavery as a
young boy. Because of this experience,
he later worked with slaves who were imprisoned to row the large ships of the
times. Today young people from all over
the world are still being sold into slavery.
It hardly seems possible that this would continue in the 21st century
but it is. Young boys and girls from
impoverished countries all over the world are being sold, sometimes by their
families, into slavery and are being trafficked into the sex trade.
